Paying For Your Winter Heating Oil

back to NEWS

It is always our advice to start considering your winter heating oil requirements during autumn. Thinking about your heating oil needs ahead of time means you will be able to budget for your winter delivery as well as ensuring you order in plenty of time to avoid the rush leading up to Christmas and New Year.

We appreciate that it can sometimes be difficult to pay for your oil in one lump-sum, particularly over the festive period. Luckily, as we offer a variety of payment methods you should be able to choose one which suits your needs.

Paying for your Winter Heating Oil as an existing customer:

As an existing customer who has ordered with us before, we offer many payment options:

Direct Debit

Monthly Direct Debit: Your account balance will be uplifted direct from your bank account on the 10th of the month.

Budget Payment Account: The cost of your heating oil is split into manageable monthly payments throughout the year and can be debited from your account on a day of your choice. This is our most popular method of payment.

BAC’s transfer

You can make a payment directly to our bank through your internet banking. We do ask that you include your account number as the payment reference if paying by BAC’s so that we can match the payment to your account.

Online through our website

Payment by credit or debit card can be made securely through our website at any time. Visit the ‘Pay Online’ page and follow the instructions given.

Credit/Debit Card

Credit or debit card payments can be made in person at our depot sites or over the telephone. To make a telephone payment please contact our finance department on 01343 557 466.

Cheque

Cheque payments can be sent to our head office: Gleaner Oils Ltd, Milnfield, Elgin, Moray, IV30 1UU, or handed into your local depot. Please ensure your account number is printed on the reverse of the cheque so the payment can be attributed to your account.

If you are not part of our budget payment account, payment would be due by the 10th of the month following delivery of your order.

It is important to note that we cannot accept payment direct to the driver at the time of delivery. Instead payment would need to be made by one of the options listed above.

Paying for your Winter Heating Oil as a new customer:

If you are placing your first order with Gleaner Oils, we do ask for payment up-front at the time your order is placed. For subsequent orders however we offer a range of payment options, including our budget payment account.

Budget Payment Account:

Our budget payment account allows you to spread the cost of your heating oil deliveries across the year by splitting the amount into manageable monthly direct debit payments. A fixed amount, agreed with our finance department, will be debited from your bank account each month on a date of your choice.

Budget accounts usually go into credit during the warmer months and debit over winter, just as they would from your electricity or other utility suppliers. Our finance department will carefully work out your monthly payments, based on the quantity of fuel you took last year, so that you owe little or no money at the end of our financial year when it would become due. For this reason we advise that you do not request to withdraw any credit from your account if you are on the budget plan. Doing so could mean that your payments would need to increase during the winter or leading up to the end of the year.

As an existing customer you may join our budget payment account at any time, however, we do ask that your account balance is cleared annually before 31st May.

Spreading the cost of your heating oil throughout the year means you will avoid any unexpected bills, which can be inconvenient at the best of times but especially leading up to Christmas.

To join our budget payment account contact our credit control department on 01343 557 466. More information on our budget payment account can be found here

Our advice if you are struggling to pay for your Winter Heating Oil:

We never want to see anyone go without heating oil, particularly over the festive period when it is often snowing. The best thing you can do if you find yourself facing financial difficulties, is to contact our finance department as soon as possible. They will be able to provide advice and let you know what options are available to you.

Where to find your invoice:

It is important to note that we operate a paper-less system for invoicing and consequently no longer send out paper copies of invoices as standard. Instead your invoice can be found as part of the delivery ticket left by the driver once your delivery has been made. A copy of your invoice can also be found on our online Customer Portal account management platform.

The delivery note/invoice will have details of the quantity and type of fuel delivered, as well as the total price payable. The amount of fuel showing has been measured through a sealed and calibrated metering system.

Our Finance team are on hand to help:

We would encourage you to talk to our finance department regarding any concerns you may have about your account or paying for your oil. If you are interested in signing up to our budget payment account or simply looking for some advice, they will be able to help. Our finance department may be contacted on 01343 557 466 or by email at [email protected], during our normal working hours.
