In 2019 our Service Station staff nominated Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland as their first ‘Charity of the Year’. The charity was chosen as it was close to heart of some of the retail staff.
Throughout 2019 each of our 13 service station sites took it in turn hosting fundraising activities; from instore lucky squares, to hosting events such as race nights. Some of our braver staff also took part of abseils organised by the charity.
A huge thank you to all of our retail staff for the effort and hard work they have put in over the year to help us reach a fantastic grand total of £13,000. A special commendation to the staff at our Ben Nevis Service Station in Fort William as they raised the highest amount out of all of our sites. And finally, and massive thank you to all of our customers and supporters, without whom we would not have been able to raise the vital funds for Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland.
A cheque presentation took place on Monday 3rd February 2020 at our Elgin Head Office to present Spina Bifida Hydrocepahlus Scotland with the grand total of £13,000. Staff from our retail and head office teams posed for the cheque presentation. The picture was released along side a press release issued by Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland in The Northern Scot and Press & Journal newspapers. The press release read:
“SBH Scotland receive cash boost from Gleaner Ltd
An Elgin-based oil company has raised £13,000 for Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland (SBH Scotland) in support of families across Scotland affected by the life-long conditions.
Gleaner Ltd, a service station network, chose SBH Scotland as their nominated charity for 2019, helping them provide continuous support to young people and their families. With an annual requirement to raise £1milllon, fundraising activities are essential to ensuring the charity can continue providing vital services.
Deborah Roe, fundraising director at SBH Scotland said: “It means so much to us that Gleaner Oils chose SBH Scotland to be their charity partner. Thanks to the generosity of each filling station and the surrounding communities, they have raised a staggering £13,000 for our charity, which will go towards supporting the friends and families of loved ones affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus.”
