Charity of the Year

Throughout 2020 we will be fundraising for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Ltd

Our retail sites will be participating in a year-long run of fundraising for a chosen ‘Charity of the Year’. 2020 sees our retail sites participating, for the second year, in the now annual sponsorship campaign. This year, we have decided to support another charity close to the hearts of our colleagues, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Ltd (JDRF).

Who are JDRF?

JDRF, the Type 1 Diabetes Charity

With 400,000 people in the UK having type 1 diabetes, JDRF are committed to eradicating type 1 by funding research to cure, treat and prevent it.

JDRF work with government, academia and industry to accelerate research in the UK and within the healthcare policy to ensure that the outcomes of research are delivered to people with type 1 in the UK, giving support and a voice to people with type 1 and their families.

Gleaner Service Stations Charity of the Year Fundraising

Each of our retail sites will be organising and participating in their own fundraising activities throughout 2020, such as collection buckets and in-store promotions. Teams of staff from our retail sites will also be participating in organised fundraising activities for JDRF across the year.

This year our fundraising will begin on 1st March 2020 and will run until the end of April 2021. The final fundraising event will be the London Marathon which is being run by Norma our Retail Area Manager.

Charity of the Year 2019

Last year we supported Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland, and raised an amazing £13,000. We hope that this year we will raise even more for our Charity of the Year.

Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland aims to support those affected with Spina Bifida, Hydrocephalus and many related conditions too. The charity also campaigns to increase public awareness of the conditions.
